He's Got The Whole World In His Hands

BY: MEGAN GILMORE

“For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.” Psalm 95:3-5

This morning I woke up with a song from my childhood playing in my mind.

He's got the whole world in His hands

He's got the whole world in His hands

He's got the whole world in His hands

He's got the whole world in His hands

I could not get this song out of my head all day. I listened to other music, I had meetings, conversations, and sessions with students. However, this song continued to play in the back of my mind. “He’s got the whole world in His hands!” What a beautiful reminder all day long. God truly has the whole world in His hands.

Our world has changed over the past few months. I have said this before, but life is no longer what it was. The more I think about it, I don’t think life will ever be “normal” again. We have all learned and grown from this challenging season. We will all take those lessons with us and move forward. Society will be different when we begin to socially integrate again.

The future is uncertain. What will life be like? When will there be a vaccine? How long will we have to wear masks? I think about schools and wonder how this will affect the educational system and our kids. There are so many wonders that go on in my mind daily thinking about the uncertain future. The questions could circle our mind forever, but there is a beautiful reminder in this song.

Even though the future is unknown we can rest in the fact that God has the whole world in His hands! Psalm 95:3-5 beautifully reminds us how He created each and every aspect of this world. ““For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.”

This verse gives us a small picture of how great and mighty our God is! When we think about the mountains and how grand they are...my vision cannot even take in the fullness of their size. Our God holds those mountains in His hands! He is in control! He is holding this world in His hands! The crazy thoughts and questions we have floating in our mind. When we wonder what is happening or what will happen just stop and think about God being in control. He has the whole world in His hand!

One of the later verses in the song says,

He's got a-you and me sister in His hands

He's got a-you and me sister in His hands

He's got a-you and me sister in His hands

He's got the whole world in His hands

He’s got a-you and my sister in His hands! Remember those words. When your mind is overthinking and worried about the uncertain future you can sing this song - He’s got the whole world in His hands!
